The Director, Internal Communications directs and oversees the Internal Communications function for the ChenMed family of Companies and maintains overall responsibility for the leadership of the organization's communications, change management and other corporate communication activities. Collaborating with a variety of COE leadership teams, the incumbent in this role creates and executes programs that engage employees around vision, mission and core model metrics. He/she also supports activities that enhance and fuel our image as a great place to work. The Director, Internal Communication owns and drives positive employee perceptions of ChenMed's business strategy and work environment as well as leading the Internal Communications discipline enterprise wide.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and implements strategies that have mid to long-term (3-5 years) impact on business results in alignment with organization objectives.
  • Collaborates with the Communications COE leadership team to design and implement a robust communications program to increase transparency and engagement around critical company-wide initiatives and bring best in class delivery vehicles to the enterprise.
  • Develops and delivers the organization's holistic internal communication strategy and policy so that employees can rapidly identify, send, receive, and understand information that is clear, credible and relevant. Develops guidelines and best practices for internal communications across the business.
  • Leads the organization in technical and non-technical change management, including the planning, implementing, communicating, measuring, controlling and affecting of change process.
  • Identifies communication and change management objectives, develops detailed communication plans and leads implementation of the plans through multiple channels. Serves as a source of innovation for developing new channels and utilizing new technologies to strengthen internal connectivity and interactions in a growing and geographically dispersed company.
  • Creates an employee communications program that supports major corporate operations/people services and business programs; leverages new and existing communication vehicles to reinforce ChenMed's Core Model and growth initiatives.
  • Partners with leaders in Corporate Operations, HR, Marketing, Finance, IT and others across the business to drive awareness of programs, strategy and company direction.
  • Partners with Culture, HR and IT COEs as well as, Dyad Partners and other groups to execute organizational local, regional and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop a team of internal communication professionals to assume higher levels of responsibilities.
  • Create a growth strategy for the department that matches and supports the growth of the organization.
  • Drafts company-wide communications from executive team members (as needed).
  • Develops and executes a communications calendar and aligns leadership team members around consistent messaging. Partners with the Culture and HR COE teams to plan and execute change management communications for transformational initiatives (e.g., adoption of our cultural stance, migration from an operations culture to a service culture.)
  • Designs metrics to measure progress and results for communication and change strategies.
  • In conjunction with IT and Digital Services staff, develops a digital strategy that makes the best use of existing and emerging technologies for communication (e.g., mobile or iPad applications, social media sites).
  • Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • BA/BS degree in in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field required OR additional experience above the minimum may be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basis
  • Master's degree in Communications or a related discipline preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of internal communications work experience, driving creative programming and leveraging innovative communication vehicles to disseminate information
  • Executive communications experience desired; experience in a healthcare environment experience a plus
  • Demonstrated experience and success in communications and/or change management leadership roles in fast-paced organizations
  • Experience working in both lead and support roles across matrixed teams
  • Experience developing creative communication strategies leveraging new social mediums such as community sites, blogging, streaming video, etc.
  • Experience working effectively with senior leaders and successfully operating at the top of organizations on internal communications strategy development and execution
  • Experience developing and executing internal communications and or change management strategies


ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Highly developed business acumen and acuity
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of change management and adoption strategies typical in transformative environments
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of internal channels - including digital and social, face-to-face, events, etc.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and a passion for excellence
  • Exceptional skills in the discipline of communication, including strategic message development, internal communications, and thought leadership/content development
  • Excellent writer/editing skills
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with key personnel throughout the enterprise, and have a highly organized operating style
  • Storytelling and corporate narrative communication abilities
  • Successful, creative, pro-active internal communications program development and orchestration
  • Evidence of strong strategic capability, coupled with the pragmatism to act tactically
  • Proven ability to balance the needs of different stakeholders
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve, adept at reconciling conflicting priorities
  • Proven capabilities working in fast-paced, high-intellect, complex organizations
  • Comfortable in a flexible, fluid and occasionally ambiguous operating environment where initiative is encouraged and rewarded, and collaboration is required for success
  • Demonstrated ability to bring focus to efforts on culture by ensuring consistent messaging enterprise-wide and driving engagement by strategically linking communication plan to business initiatives and outcomes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 15% of the time
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
