In this role, the Director of Event Communications will partner with our marketing and communications teams to manage large and small events for internal and external audience along with a scalable plan and event guidelines.

  • The Events Director will lead VillageMD’s robust events efforts including trade shows, webinars, speaking engagements, etc.
  • The Events Director will create a playbook for future events including large events (such as annual conferences) and small events (such as clinic ribbon cuttings).

How you can make a difference:

  • Develop a variety of in-person and virtual events for internal and external audiences including, but not limited to, a variety of audiences including physicians, prospective physicians, employees, and patients. Events will be a combination of industry and owned events at both large and small scale capacities.
  • Create a playbook for each type of event -- with brand standard activation and guidelines -- that includes event outline, concepting, pre-, onsite and post communications, timeline, run of show and measurement and reporting. Playbook should include selection and supervision of external agencies or contractors where appropriate.
  • Create and manage comprehensive event calendar to ensure all stakeholders are aware of event happenings.
  • Oversee events with a dotted line relationship to all other event managers in the organization.
  • Create short and long-term plans for event management to be leveraged across the organization's teams including marketing, BD, HR, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a budget plan for each event and seek approval in advance.
  • Determine the appropriate tracking and reporting to measure the success of the events.
  • Develop new and creative event opportunities for patient and physician/provider audiences.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop event-specific social media content leading up to, during and after the event.
  • Negotiate event sponsorships, speaking opportunities, and webinars to best showcase our brands.
  • Train and supervise event staff to plan and execute events on site.
  • Create scalable event plans for large events, market/practice events and events-in-a-box.
  • Plan and oversee ribbon cutting events; collaborate with the teams to amplify to the appropriate audiences.
  • Develop post-event results reports and collaborate with appropriate teams for post-event action.

Skills for success:

  • You have high emotional intelligence, the ability to forge meaningful relationships, and can successfully navigate diverse stakeholder groups
  • You are highly collaborative, yet skilled at influencing others to achieve results
  • Experience performing under pressure with a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing what you say you will do
  • You are solution-oriented and have a passion for being hands-on in problem-solving and execution
  • You are self-starting and maintain a high sense of urgency and accountability in delivering measurable results in line with agreed upon timeframes

Experience to drive change:

  • Approximately 10 years of event experience.
  • Bachelors degree in business, communications, marketing or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excel at creating playbooks and guidelines to help in-market teams and agencies execute the plans.
  • Excel at both in-person and virtual events at large and small scale.
  • Experience in all Microsoft Office suite and experience with Sharepoint and SmartSheet are preferred.
  • Some travel required.
