Republic is a platform and ecosystem enabling private investing in start-ups, real estate, crypto, and more for investors of all backgrounds. Core to our mission is to help non-accredited investors find and to early-stage, vetted startups, and to provide access to capital to startups that may otherwise be left out of the venture ecosystem.

As a Digital Community Manager at Republic, you’ll be responsible for thinking about how to manage our online investor communities at scale. Your first challenge is to launch and support the “groups” product: private spaces on Republic for groups of investors to connect and build community along a shared thesis or mission statement, led and supported by community partners and influencers. You will own the process and playbook for successful group launches, from defining best practices to onboarding and training partners and monitoring and managing communities day-to-day to ensure their long-term success. This is a high-growth role with huge leadership and strategy potential as we grow our community products and programs. However, to begin, this will be an individual contributor role where strong day-to-day execution skills will be key to success.

What you'll do:

  • Write the Playbook by using your existing experience and conduct research into similar communities to create the necessary community management playbooks and training.
  • Create training and onboarding for community partners to help them launch their own community groups on Republic or co-lead a thematic group.
  • Create a process to source and train user and partner moderators.
  • Define digital community best practices and expectations for partners, including creating scalable/ repeatable community rituals and recurring events that can be implemented within individual communities.
  • Train the Trainer. Our community strategy relies on strong partnerships with community organizations, non-profits, accelerators, venture capitalists, ecosystem builders, and subject matter experts. You will be responsible for training and supporting partners to help them run their own digital communities on Republic.
  • Manage the “pass off” of partners from Partnerships -- onboard and train partners for community launch.
  • Source/manage onboarding of user moderators and oversee their ongoing success.
  • Build out an internal customer success team that will support content moderation, including defining moderation guidelines and best practices.
  • Head Gardener A community is a garden that requires tending. You are the head gardener who is ultimately responsible for nurturing and supporting communities at every stage to ensure their continued success.
  • Manage questions or conflicts that arise in the communities that are escalated above moderator level.
  • Work directly with marketing to pipe relevant content and events from around Republic into groups.
  • Potentially oversee two contractors' discord/telegram communities focused on Republic’s Crypto offerings
  • Establish and manage a remote customer service team to manage spam and code of conduct violations.
  • Create Community at Scale. Republic supports hundreds of thousands of investors, founders, partners, and influencers across our ecosystem. You will be a key player in growing and defining the digital community trajectory.
  • Manage launch of new groups each month, including marketing launches, assets, investment thesis, partnership onboarding, and moderator sourcing.
  • Work with data team to analyze community trends and success to better facilitate and iterate on community processes.
  • Iterate on existing community models as needed to provide better community experiences.
  • Partner with Product and Partnerships to improve the groups' experience and create future digital community programs across Republic.

About you:

  • You have experience managing social media platforms, community platforms, or online communities. You understand the tools available in digital spaces for community building and how to use them to build best-in-class community experiences.
  • You love teaching and supporting other community builders to scale your impact. You revel in the opportunity to design clear processes and training materials to help transform partners into digital community leaders.
  • You are comfortable in ambiguity: as the first full-time digital community manager at a fast-growing start-up, you’re up for the challenge of building something from nothing and iterating as you go.
  • You can understand the big picture, but still sweat the details: you can manage complex projects that spam multiple teams and relationships (and you caught the spelling mistake in this bullet point on the first read).
  • You are a team player and a great cross-functional communicator. This role requires you to be able to communicate up, down, and sideways, keeping diverse stakeholders in the loop and setting clear expectations and timelines. When an issue or setback occurs, you are quick to communicate any potential impacts to all involved parties and create a plan to get back on track.
  • You are an executor. There is no task too small or “not your job.” You understand that to begin, you will be required to manage both the strategy and the implementation of groups day-to-day.
  • You are a leader who is excited about stepping up to the plate to train and oversee a team of remote support staff, and potentially additional community managers as the community team grows and scales.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills: you can represent Republic both online and with partners in a clear and professional manner.

Bonus

  • You have experience working at a growth-stage startup: you understand the unique challenges and exciting opportunities of working at a fast-growing company, and are ready to dive in the deep end.
  • You have experience working in FinTech/ Venture/ Entrepreneurship and understand our regulatory environment and the Reg CF landscape. You may already have a few great resources or programming ideas for supporting investors in our communities.

Republic is working to increase equity in venture capital by helping underrepresented founders access capital and helping non-accredited people invest directly in startup companies. To that end, we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply, even if you do not meet every requirement listed. Your lived experiences and perspectives are vital to building thoughtful and equitable communities for our investors: we hope you will join us on our mission to make venture and FinTech more inclusive.
