The Role - Content Marketing Manager

Information about retirement generally, and Medicare specifically, is often inaccessible at best and misleading at worst. As the point person for Content Strategy, you will lead the charge in establishing Chapter as the most authoritative and trusted brand that helps Americans transition into retirement. You will create our content growth strategy, developing engaging content aimed towards Medicare-aged Americans across multiple media and channels.

As the Content Strategy Lead, you’ll work at the intersection of advertising, SEO, PR and Social as part of a cross-functional team of marketers, product managers and designers. Many Performance Indicators will be used to appreciate (and reward) your impact. The most important ones are the growth of organic traffic to Chapter, the engagement rate of our social media ads, the effectiveness of our audio and video ads, and our Ahrefs Domain Rating

This role reports to the Head of Marketing

What you'll do

  • Own our SEO-driven content strategy from ideation to execution.
  • Create and/or source original content that will engage digital audiences and drive high PageRank backlinks to askchapter.org.
  • Recognize popular themes that our target audience engages with and develop content strategy accordingly.
  • Develop KPIs for content measurement and optimize performance accordingly.
  • Perform keyword analysis to identify new content opportunities to grow organic traffic.
  • Support our Head of Media, Communications and Brand in developing PR and brand content. The two of you will own the voice and tone of the brand.
  • Drive our efforts to craft and promote a new category as well as our blueprint and point-of-view within the space.
  • Continuously identify ways to build new content creation & distribution, including new formats or executions, content partnerships, research partnerships, and emerging market opportunities.

What you'll need to be successful

  • You have 4 or more years of experience in content marketing, SEO or a related field.
  • You are scrappy and hands-on, not afraid to take the initiative (hint: initiative is of the most important qualities we look for in a candidate). You can work with a cross-functional team.
  • Interest in and excitement for translating brand strategy, business strategy, and customer insights into content marketing strategy.
  • Strong copywriting and creative skills with an eye for making complex topics accessible through content and design.
  • Your an impeccable writer who immediately spotted the typo in this sentence (tell us what the typo is when you apply and we will move your CV to the top of the pile). You are a self-starter who always takes the initiative and learns quickly.

Why We Exist

Every morning, 10,000 Americans wake up and begin their first day of retirement. Chapter is re-inventing the way that Americans transition into retirement, starting with Medicare.

For most people, Medicare is boring, bureaucratic, and confusing. But it's important. If people wait too long to choose coverage, they risk life-time penalties from Uncle Sam, may need to undergo medical underwriting, or may pay out-of-pocket for 20%+ of medical costs plus prescriptions and most costs of dental, vision, and hearing.

What We Do

Our team and technology help retirees to navigate Medicare, including when and how to sign up, what specific coverage to choose, and how to maximize the benefits from their coverage.

Chapter has built industry-leading technology to help retirees save thousands of dollars on their healthcare. Our promise is simple: we want people to improve their health coverage while reducing what they pay for it.

How? Our platform searches every Medicare option available nationwide, while others search only a subset of plans, which is the norm in the Medicare market.

This full search is why we find savings and benefits that others miss.

Our Team

Our team is high-integrity and high-horsepower with a big heart. We are software engineers, illustrators, lawyers, and former management consultants. We have worked at organizations including Palantir, Axios, Latch, and McKinsey.

We are an equal-opportunity workplace. We are deeply committed to building an inclusive workplace for people of all races, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, and ethnicities.

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The office vibe is great! We enjoy quality time together during our twice weekly team lunches, but my favorite part is getting to meet with team in-person and getting jam sessions face to face. I love coming to work everyday with a team that is hardworking, friendly, and learning from each other!
