What will you do?

Bixal is seeking a Communications and Outreach Specialist who will work with federal clients to support strategic communications and outreach efforts. Duties will include supporting external outreach efforts, developing and implementing a comprehensive outreach and communications strategy, and supporting the development of best practices for audience engagement. 


Location:

100% Remote within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive strategic communications strategies, plans, and related materials with minimal oversight and ensure quality delivery throughout implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal federal teams to create media plans and communications strategy that interfaces with larger agency initiatives.
  • Maintain talking points document and communicate messaging when needed for media.
  • Advise and support the development of best practices for audience engagement, messaging, and most appropriate communication channels and strategies. 
  • Promote news and updates across social media and other communication channels. 
  • Create and maintain outreach and marketing materials including online content and visual representation of branding guidelines. 
  • Analyze existing communications materials and identify gaps that need to be filled; Create new resources and content to address needs. 
  • Collaborate with Partnerships to communicate upcoming events, announcements, and product features. Collaborate with other content/customer service team members on messaging. 
  • Identify and share out outreach opportunities to attend or participate in, such as speaking engagements, blog posts, social media, etc. 
  • Advise on the most appropriate communication channels and messaging according to the audience. 
  • Deliver work in an iterative, agile framework; prepare a client-ready demo of work at end of Sprint as needed
  • Attends team-wide meetings; work closely with subject-matter experts for content review and feedback. 
  • Continuously support diversity, equity, and inclusion of our teams and the work we do for the public. 
  • Perform other duties as required. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of professional experience. 
  • US citizen or permanent resident with the ability to undergo and pass a Public Trust security clearance. 
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and requests. 
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to support cross-channel communication (social media, etc.) with brand voice & tone; familiarity with plain language. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management. 
  • Strong organization skills. 
  • Excellent client relationship skills. 
  • Demonstrated skills in using Microsoft Office software and web-based communication tools.

Nice to Haves:

  • Master's degree in a communications-related field.
  • Experience working with federal clients.
  • Interested in technology and cyber security.
