Convoy is transforming the $800 billion trucking industry, where even 10 years ago, most truck drivers did not have smartphones and paper driver logs were common. In 2015, Convoy launched the digital freight movement with an open and fully connected marketplace for brands and manufacturers to work directly with freight carriers who move truckload shipments throughout the country. This ‘Digital Freight Network’ is powered by machine learning and automation, and supported by a broad, ever-growing set of features that benefit both sides of the marketplace.

We’ve also been backed by world-class investors, including Google, YCombinator, Fidelity, Greylock Generation, Lone Pine, T. Rowe Price, Baillie Gifford and the founders and CEOs of Amazon, Salesforce, eBay, LinkedIn, Expedia, Dropbox, Starbucks, and others. We are proud to have been named a CNBC Disruptor 50 Winner (3x), a Fast Company World Changing Idea, a LinkedIn Top Startup, a Forbes' Best Startup Employer, one of Fortune Magazine's 'Impact 20' list, a best place to work in Washington State, a BloombergNEF Pioneer winner, and more.

This is your opportunity to collaborate with an incredible group of people and help transform the freight industry. Join Convoy and help us transport the world with endless capacity and zero waste.

About you:

As a Communications Manager, we need a great writer, thoughtful strategic partner, advocate, and curious learner who can collaborate with the CEO as well as work independently.

You are someone who is excited to rapidly grow their career with front-line experience. You’ll be interacting with the CEO, founders, and other top executives, challenging their ideas, and pushing the thinking of a massive industry.

You’ll be creating and executing a strategy to position Convoy as a thought-leader in the debate about the future of freight and supply chains. You’ll also be articulating the craft of building a modern, mission-driven digital freight business and its company culture, plus other topics as they arise.

Together, you’ll work with Convoy’s CEO to shape ideas, build on top of them, and design the narratives to pursue. You’ll reflect their distinctive style, perspective, and personality, but also incorporate Convoy’s brand voice and be part of evolving it. You must be creative and also be a structured thinker who is excited about diving into nuanced concepts in freight and supply chains.

You’ll be creating content across many scenarios and audiences. In some cases, we’ll be competing to win the debate, while in others we’ll be thought provoking and inspiring others. Sometimes we’ll just want to be fun and playful. You’ll be writing for various audiences including: shippers, carriers, investors, analysts, and employees. Press, social media, influencers, events, and more are familiar channels to deliver our message and shape the conversation across this intersection of freight and technology.

You will:

  • Develop and execute a thought leadership roadmap in partnership with the CEO.
  • Articulate ideas in an executive’s voice through email, award and speaking submissions, blog posts, social posts, and more.
  • Partner closely with public relations and marketing departments to incorporate narratives into broader plans and strategies.
  • Represent the CEO’s personal brand in company and industry debates.
  • Collaborate on messaging for weekly and quarterly meetings with employees.
  • Measure the success of executive communications and making ongoing improvements based on results.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A passion to write, tell stories, debate, and create. You believe that the words used matter and you’re thoughtful about them.
  • 10+ years of experience where writing was a key component of your job, such as product marketing, executive/corporate communications, product management, etc.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities at one time. You know when to be urgent and opportunistic versus thoughtful and methodical.
  • Competitive instinct and strong debate skills.
  • Experience driving industry-shifting ideas.
  • Experience in journalism a plus.
  • Experience building scalable communications programs from scratch in a startup environment.
  • Experience with community / government relations and corporate social responsibility a plus.

Benefits:

Employees' wellbeing is top of mind for the Convoy team. Outside of offering excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits, we also offer the following:

* On demand mental and emotional health benefits through Lyra

* On demand primary care through 98.6

* Generous paid time off

* Paid parental leave program

* Fertility benefit solutions via Progyny

* Child-care and adult/elder-care options through Bright Horizons

* Opportunity to join and contribute to one of our Employee Resource Groups

* Ability to make a real world impact!
