Job Description
Our Animal Health Marketing team takes a customer centric perspective using customer feedback and market intelligence data. Using this data, we design, develop and deploy products, platforms, brands and marketing initiatives that ensure we can improve the health and well-being of animals everywhere.
The Associate Director, Global Market Research, focusing on Livestock, is responsible for managing all market intelligence activities to support the Global and the US Livestock businesses. Reporting to the Executive Director of Market Intelligence and Business Strategy (MIBS), the Strategy and Insights group within the Global Marketing organization, this role is responsible for generating customer insights to drive business strategy and ensuring that critical knowledge is leveraged across the global organization, particularly within the Ruminants, Swine, Poultry and Aqua businesses . Serving as an internal consultant to Global / US Marketing and Commercial Operations partners, in addition to our company's Animal Health Intelligence business, the incumbent will collaborate closely with key team members and leadership by proactively and reactively providing insights regarding customers, competitors, and changing industry dynamics.
Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and manage all market research projects and activities related to our company's Animal Health's Livestock Business from inception through conclusion, specifically:

  • With the supervision of the Executive Director, MIBS, develop an annual market research plan for the global livestock species which is based upon a firm understanding of the key opportunities and challenges facing the business by:
    • Recommending primary market research projects which support the product portfolio as it exists today while anticipating its growth and evolution, including the introduction of new products and services and competitive dynamics
    • Identifying secondary research and data products and initiatives that can enable the business to understand business and competitor performance
    • Executing a market plan to meet established objectives, including recommended modifications to plan given changing market or industry dynamics
  • Design and manage primary market research projects, with research samples typically consisting of veterinarians, producers, and other industry stakeholders, by:
    • Gain consensus on research objectives and methodologies with internal business partners
    • Managing third-party vendor engagement process by writing RfPs, sourcing potential partners, evaluating proposed methodologies, and collaborating with MAH Procurement to ensure favorable contract terms with a selected vendor
    • Developing and reporting on actionable recommendations based upon study findings
    • Presenting findings to key partners
  • Manage all secondary market share data collection and analysis related to the livestock species business
    • Derive strategic insights from data and provide monthly or quarterly reporting to the business unit
    • Identify and evaluate new secondary data sources and methods for reporting / visualizing data for the end-user; Collaborate with IT and Analytics on all new data reporting and visualization initiatives
    • Manage relationships with secondary data vendors, including contractual negotiations and other communications / administrative details
  • Collaborate on knowledge management activities and serve as an active participate of the Global Intelligence Network by ensuring that all market intelligence assets and best practices are shared with appropriate colleagues and stakeholders in both global and local markets
  • Provide analysis to support strategic planning, business development, or communications initiatives, as needed
  • Work closely with co-members of MIBS and Global Marketing on ad-hoc projects


EDUCATIONAL: Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in marketing, market research or related discipline. MBA or Masters a plus.
PROFESSIONAL: 5-7 years in related sales, marketing, or market research, including a minimum of 5 years in a market research role. In-depth knowledge of primary and secondary data methodologies and techniques. Experience in Animal Health and/or Consumer Health is highly desirable but not required.
OTHER: Applicant should have strong analytical skills and communicate effectively to top management through written and oral presentations. A successful candidate will be a proactive thinker who is highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment and can multi-tasking and working across geographies and cultures.
