Assistant Director - Brand Communications
At Northwestern Mutual, we are strong, innovative and growing. We invest in our people. We care and make a positive difference.
We're strong and growing. In a company with such a long and storied history, this may be the most exciting and important time to be a part of Northwestern Mutual. We're strong, innovative and growing.
We invest in our people. We provide opportunities for employees to grow themselves, their career and in turn, our business.
We care. We make a positive difference in our communities. Nationally, thousands have benefitted from our support of research and programs to fight childhood cancer. Each year, our Foundation, employees and financial representatives donate time, talent and financial support to causes they're passionate about.
2021 was a record-setting year here at Northwestern Mutual - one that saw our company achieve new levels of financial strength, client trust, employee engagement and media attention. For instance:
- Company revenue grew to $34 billion, an all-time high.
- More clients than ever before - over 97% - kept their life insurance with us.
- We were one of only four U.S. companies to earn the highest levels of financial soundness from every major rating agency - a class that includes Apple and Microsoft.
- Our combined $570 billion in company and client assets was the highest in our history.
- We have consistently maintained best-in-class employee engagement levels.
- The future has never looked brighter at Northwestern Mutual, and to help accelerate our historic momentum we are making exciting investments in key areas of the enterprise - including external communications.
A core component of that investment will be our newly created Assistant Director of Brand Communications. A skilled and seasoned communicator, the assistant director will lead the company's public and media relations initiatives in support of major advertising and marketing campaigns, along with other initiatives aimed at driving greater awareness of the Northwestern Mutual brand at a national level, in select markets, and with key audiences.

- Have a strong understanding of and interest in PR measurement, with a focus on linking earned media efforts to brand and business outcomes.
In addition, the assistant director will lead proactive external communications efforts focused on reinforcing and expanding the company's reputation as a best-in-class 'employer brand' - one that boasts an unmatched culture, top talent, and an engaged workforce. Those efforts will entail working closely and collaboratively with senior leaders from Northwestern Mutual's Human Resources function, including the company's Chief Human Resources Officer to support his external thought leadership program.
To help ensure success, qualified candidates will also:
- Boast exceptional writing skills that can be applied to and adapted for multiple audiences and channels.
