Job Description We're a dynamic, integrated in-house agency that appreciates creative challenges, whether we're creating innovative content and experiences across our owned and paid channels, or working closely with other talented agencies to do the same. We are skilled partners across creative disciplines who help define, provide creative vision for and deliver on the expression of the JPMorgan Chase & Co brand across our global ecosystem.
And, as part of the larger JPMorgan Chase & Co. brand team, we also create branding, creative, advertising and strategy solutions that support our Corporate Responsibility and Diversity & Inclusion efforts, among other corporate functions.
We're looking for an energetic and experienced Art Director/Designer with a proven track record of creating engaging, results-oriented content and experiences, with an eye toward innovation and creative thinking.
As an Art Director/Designer on our team, you'll concept and execute on-brand tactics in our 360 ecosystem (from film and social to emails, landing pages, print, style guides, etc.) that tell the story behind our products and initiatives, and bring our voice, business and brand to life. Partnership and teamwork is fundamental to this role: You'll work closely with copywriters, creative directors, brand managers and other partners on best-in-class creative solutions that communicate the strategic intent for each deliverable. You'll develop a strong understanding of our brand, our customers and their journeys, as well as our strategic platform and visual guidelines.
Our ideal candidate works both collaboratively and independently; knows the importance of good communication and has a proven track record of it; pays attention to the details and polishes their work, but knows how to hit a deadline; and is an expert in the latest trends in modern design and advertising, with a keen eye for visual, UX and graphic design, storytelling, color, illustration, photography, typography and motion graphics.
Your work will the Marketing Growth & Innovation organization that sits across all of card and is a key business within Chase's Consumer & Community Banking group. The role will specifically interface with the Marketing Innovation team that owns several high visibility work stripes:
  • Chase digital commerce focused strategies, capabilities, products, services and incentives.
  • Driving merchant-led value through incentives, API integrations, unique marketing tactics and wallet strategies across card, examples are DoorDash, Lyft, Spotify, Google Pay, PayPal and others.
  • Creating new marketing capabilities, marketing tactics and testing plans for "Next Best Message" strategies for card- which requires robust creative development and testing plans in partnership with this Chase team and Moveable Ink

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with copywriters, creative directors and brand managers to create compelling creative executions for multiple lines of business across various platforms: web, mobile, social, print, direct mail, posters, emails, retail signage, presentations, events, and video.
  • Learn, know and deliver creative solutions based on Brand guidelines
  • Cultivate a solid understanding of the strategy and market dynamics of assigned product(s) and initiatives
  • Work closely with other creatives, brand managers and creative operations managers to meet established deadlines
  • Comfortably present creative ideas and solutions to peers, managers and business partners
  • Participate in project kickoffs, status meetings, team meetings and creative reviews, to stay aligned with the creative process and ensure adherence to timelines
  • Complete all assigned work on deadline and regularly communicate status updates to your managers and teammates

  • 5+ years of design experience in an agency or corporate environment, designing across multiple devices and platforms; some agency experience is strongly preferred but not required
  • A bachelor's degree in communication design, graphic design or visual arts is required
  • Understand the fine points of brand guidelines and adhere to their standards and rules, with a great eye for typography
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of color theory and color relationships.
  • Impeccable taste in current design trends and visual content
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, or the ability to learn it quickly (experience working in a regulated industry preferred)
  • Must possess exceptional software skills. Proficiency on Mac OS platform is a must. Thorough knowledge of the following applications is required: Adobe CC (including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop), Sketch and InVision
  • Strong experience and knowledge of skills in both digital and print, with expert understanding of multimedia design and experience building files for both print and digital
  • Experienced at translating a creative brief into clear and motivating creative
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions
  • Listens and communicates well and is open to feedback
  • Strong communication, presentation and strategy skills
  • Proactive, organized and detail-oriented work style
  • Able to effectively handle multiple assignments concurrently in a fast-paced environment, partner effectively and consistently meet deadlines
