Edelman is seeking an Account Supervisor to join the Corporate Affairs & Advisory Services (C&AS) team in D.C. While there’s no “typical” day in this role, we are looking for a team member who can roll with the punches and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, this role requires someone who is invigorated by challenges, complex subject matter, and thinking creatively on behalf of brands and their executives. 

 

This role will initially serve as a virtual embed position for one of our newest and fastest growing accounts, meaning 100% of your time will be working in support of the client and various agency teams across the globe including our Edelman team in the U.S. and Canada. Upon project completion, the role will be staffed against additional accounts serviced by the C&AS team.

 

The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer and account manager with a diverse set of skills and abilities in corporate communications, earned media, social media, research, and executive positioning/thought leadership. Experience with crisis communications, employee engagement, and change management is a plus. We’re seeking candidates with diverse backgrounds and skill sets to push our thinking, share fresh, innovative ideas, and elevate the quality of counsel we deliver for our clients.

 

As a member of the broader Corporate & Advisory Services team, this candidate will also serve as a mentor to junior staff and interns.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as extension of client communications team, serving as a primary day-to-day support and coordination between marketing, partner, trade public affairs and additional agency in-market teams
  • Manage multiple projects from concept to completion by anticipating challenges, troubleshooting problems, proposing solutions, offering client counsel, overseeing quality, and ensuring deadline adherence 
  • Strong earned/storytelling mindset is ideal. Should be interested in contributing to strategic earned media planning on a regular basis and supporting the development of those plans (i.e., writing a press release, ideating a potential storyline or creating a bespoke media list)
  • Thoughtfully contribute to client counsel based on the internal and external landscape and business goals 
  • Closely track communications marketing trends to bring fresh thinking and best practices to clients 
  • Write in multiple voices and produce clear, persuasive, content, including messaging, media pitches, event submissions, and more to help tell client’s stories 
  • Take immediate action on client feedback and regularly track deliverables and deadlines in collaboration with larger account team
  • Delegate to junior staff and help motivate and coach team members; manage up to senior staff and consistently provide feedback that helps drive efficiency 
  • Contribute to business development, including new business and organic growth with existing clients 
  • Coordinate with other discipline experts (e.g., paid media, creative, planning, crisis) as needed 
  • Excel at detailed analysis and fast-moving project management, showing attention to detail and ability to navigate multiple projects and stakeholder groups simultaneously 
  • Thrive in an independent work environment and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team and effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement of leadership skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Strong understanding of and demonstrated experience in strategic communications or public relations, with 4+ years of relevant full-time experience 
  • Experience in travel and tourism industry a plus
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time/project management skills; possess the ability to multiple deadlines simultaneously 
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate and accurately judge and edit the work of others 
  • Must demonstrate excellent writing and verbal communication skills 
  • Possess advance ability to use the Microsoft suite of tools - PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams
