Job Purpose

The Market Access and External Affairs Director AT is part of the Austrian leadership team and is accountable for delivering and sustaining optimal and timely market access and pricing for the dedicated Johnson & Johnson innovative medicine portfolio of products. The job holder represents Johnson & Johnson innovative medicine to the external environment (e.g. trade associations, authorities, and key stakeholders) and contributes to the growth, positive image, and reputation of Johnson & Johnson innovative medicine as well as a sustainable and innovation-friendly health care environment.

Job Responsibilities

Market Access

  • Develop and implement market access strategies for new and existing products to secure reimbursement and pricing approvals.

  • Lead negotiations with health authorities, payers, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Monitor, analyze & shape healthcare policy changes, pricing trends, and reimbursement frameworks in Austria.

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards in all market access activities.

External Affairs

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including government bodies, patient organizations, industry associations, and healthcare professionals.

  • Represent the company in policy discussions and industry forums to influence healthcare policy and access conditions.

  • Develop advocacy strategies to support patient access and company objectives.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team within Market Access and External Affairs.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Commercial) to align strategies.

  • Provide strategic input to global and regional teams on Austrian market dynamics.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Health Economics, Business, or related field.

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Market Access within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry

  • Proven track record of successful pricing and reimbursement negotiations in Austria

  • Strong knowledge of Austrian healthcare system, HTA processes, and policy environment.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Fluent in German and English
