The Manager, Marketing & Origination will help implement commercial and go-to-market strategies, with a focus on originating structured products to new and existing customer relationships and report to the Director of Origination. Includes aiding in the Origination, negotiation and execution of agreements that maximize value creation including coordinating with internal stakeholders.

Structured products include renewable portfolio PPAs, load following and carbon free energy solutions, but also more traditional PPAs, VPPAs or other financial and physical instruments.

Contribute to marketing efforts and customer outreach to communicate key attributes of potential product offerings, proposing and structuring power transactions to support the company's wind, solar, energy storage asset growth, as well as the existing portfolio.

The ability to work independently and as a team member are critical, as well as the desire and innovative mindset to operate as an important contributor within a fast-pace environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent AES at industry events to help drive company awareness and build new relationships.
  • Provide market intelligence feedback to the Origination team and broader business development group.
  • Prepare internal and external memos and presentations.
  • Actively manage and build relationships with existing and new customers
  • Source and execute long-term power sale agreements with customers to support the development of renewable assets, energy storage, while meeting customers' needs for sustainability and carbon free goals creating bilateral negotiation opportunities
  • Prepare proposals and presentation materials for customers
  • Collaborate with other functional areas of AES, such as New Products Team, Business Development, Finance, Risk, Structuring and Trading and other Support and Control functions
  • Keep abreast of renewable energy opportunities and national trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to establish, sustain and foster professional contacts to build, enhance, and connect networks for work purposes
  • Solid commercial mindset to balance customer and business needs
  • A team player that works well across an organization and builds performance alliances through ongoing coaching and development.
  • Prepare RFP summaries for distribution to management.
  • Prepare for proposals and meetings with customers through coordination with Commercial, Business Development, Finance, Engineering, and other departments.



Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree in engineering, finance, or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in finance, commercial management or business is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in energy development, origination and management experience.
  • Proven track record with PPA transactions across multiple power markets, customers, and innovative deal structure types
  • Demonstrated ability to structure, prepare, negotiate, coordinate and execute power sale agreements together with internal and external advisors.
  • Thorough understanding of contract origination and commercial transaction structuring;
  • Knowledge of US energy markets
  • Established network
  • Excellent communication, strong negotiation and organizational skills, commercial agility, with high level attention to detail
  • Travel up to 60% of the time
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM
  • Familiarity with Challenger Sales Methodology
