About the Position


Events are one of the Internet Society and the Internet Society Foundation’s most powerful communications channels. They enable us to engage our global community, amplify our mission, showcase impact, and build partnerships across the Internet ecosystem.

We are seeking an Events Manager to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of high-impact global events that bring our mission to life. From major international covenings, intimate donor events, and community gatherings to hybrid and online events, you will play a central role in planning and delivering events that inspire, connect, and mobilize.

This is a highly collaborative role requiring creativity, attention to detail, precision, a great ability to prioritize tasks, and strategic alignment. You will work closely with colleagues across teams and regions to ensure all events are planned and delivered with excellence and consistency, reflecting our shared values and advancing Internet Society’s strategic goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Event Planning & Coordination

  • Manage the delivery of a portion of our global events portfolio, ensuring that they align with the organization’s mission, communications priorities, and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure events serve as a strategic communications channel, driving visibility, engagement, and impact across audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate events into broader campaigns and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain anannual events calendar, frameworks, and processes to streamline planning and reporting across teams.

Event Delivery & Operations

  • Manage the full lifecycle of events — from conception to execution — including all logistics, production, vendor coordination, registration, and onsite operations.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management for event-related activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability.
  • Prepare and manage event timelines, schedules, and briefing materials.
  • Coordinate speaker and participant management, including invitations, briefings, and support.
  • Lead the use of event technology platforms for online and hybrid events (such as Zoom Events).

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including community leaders, partners, donors, and vendors, as required to ensure smooth coordination.
  • Work across time zones and cultures, maintaining strong communication and relationship management throughout event planning and delivery.

Measurement & Impact

  • Develop post-event reports and debriefs, capturing outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Track metrics and impact indicators to evaluate effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Support storytelling and communications outputs that highlight event success and community impact.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Desired Qualifications


  • 5+ years of professional experience in event management, ideally in international, mission-driven, community-based, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder global events (in-person, online, and hybrid).
  • Ability to apply branding principles to events.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget management, logistics coordination, and vendor relations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency with project management and virtual event tools (such as Zoom Events) preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures and teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Compensation and benefits for this position will be paid in local currency and based on the country and geographic location’s local salary and benefits market data for the position. Exact pay will be based on factors including but not limited to relevant qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, business and organizational needs.
