Coordinate and lead legal support relating to state settlement agreements for a fortune 200 company with some of the most iconic brands! Have a JD with 8+ years of work experience? Have 5+ years of experience working on large-scale arbitrations or complex litigation? If so, we want to speak with you!

We are actively recruiting for a Senior Counsel, Master Settlement Agreement to join the Law Department in Richmond, VA, or we are open to remote work arrangements.

This position will be responsible for managing work relating to various long-standing settlement agreements with the tobacco industry and related legislation. You will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from inquisitive, collaborative colleagues and do exciting work that enables the success of our employees and businesses.

What you will be doing:• Lead day-to-day management of ongoing and future large-scale arbitrations and litigation among state entities and tobacco industry manufacturers arising from the Master Settlement Agreement ("MSA") and other tobacco-related state settlement agreements.• Develop and implement legal strategies in coordination with co-defendants.• Engage with cross-functional legal experts (in-house and outside) and advise on business-related implications of the MSA and other state settlement agreements.• Comprehensive management of outside counsel, budgeting and resource allocation.• Partner with clients from State Relations, Government Affairs, Finance and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements relating to state settlement agreements and the MSA.

We want you to have:• Demonstrated skill in managing and setting strategic direction for large-scale arbitrations or complex litigation matters.• Familiarity with the MSA, tobacco litigation and/or the legal and regulatory requirements affecting our business is a benefit.• 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in litigation or other dispute resolution.• 8+ years of work experience; mix of law firm and in-house legal experience a plus.• JD from an accredited law school and good standing member of the Bar.• Strong written and oral communication skills as well as direct client counseling experience.• Ability to navigate a complex organization and manage a demanding workload while working independently.• Strong business and financial competence.
