RingCentral, Inc. is seeking a Product and Privacy Counsel, to provide privacy legal advice on relevant service and feature developments and initiatives. This individual must be self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate within the legal department and across other business organizations to help ensure that RingCentral services and processes are compliant with applicable laws and regulations relating to privacy and security including GDPR, SCCs/Schrems II, COPPA, CCPA/CPRA, etc.
Partner with engineering, product management, and InfoSec teams as the relevant legal point of contact to manage product and support issues as they arise.
Provide privacy legal counsel on relevant service and feature developments and initiatives through the development lifecycle, in partnership with product and regulatory attorneys.
Advise teams on legal issues related to management and use of data collected and processed by RingCentral services.
Document privacy impact assessments and organize and drive legal processes that apply privacy by design in RingCentral services.
Be the resident legal expert on sub processors' activities, including data processing and data transfers, to advise relevant teams on privacy impact.
In collaboration with the rest of the privacy team, develop customer collateral and resources, such as notices, disclosures, and privacy data sheets, to help customers and users assess the privacy impact of using RingCentral services and data transfer risks.
Stay current on policy issues and legal developments relating to privacy and security in the telecommunications and UCaaS sectors.
Collaborate and build relationships with industry peers and attend ongoing industry working groups and training on relevant subject areas.
Qualifications:
Law degree from a reputable school
Admission to CA or other state bar
CIPP/US certification required or privacy law certificate from law school
Experience in solving product legal matters, including communicating and collaborating effectively with stakeholders with wide ranges of legal and technical experience and knowledge.
Experience working at a technology company or working with technology clients
Have a minimum of 3 years of relevant product and privacy counseling, and transactional experience (a mix of in-house and law firm experience strongly preferred), with innovative software and technologies, privacy, data security laws, and regulations
