About the Role
You will be a critical team member in Lyra’s growing legal team to support internal stakeholders in fulfilling Lyra’s mission to bring mental and emotional health solutions to large employers across the country. This is a full-time role that can be located in the headquarters in SF Bay Area (Burlingame, California), or remote, and will report to the legal team’s Privacy and Product Counsel. You will be expected to assist in the development of Lyra’s privacy program, independently fulfill release of information requests from clients and respond to subpoenas. The ideal candidate is highly proactive, extremely organized, thrives in a fast-paced and exciting environment, and has a desire and the ability to learn new things, grow with the company, and develop processes and procedures to increase quality, accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the intake and fulfillment of Data Subject Rights Requests (DSRs) under CCPA, GDPR and HIPAA
  • Assist in the development of privacy program policies and procedures, specifically around DSRs and records management
  • Assign, manage and ensure appropriate documentation of HIPAA training/awareness courses company-wide
  • Fulfill client records requests (incoming, processing, and delivery), including reporting on disclosures and status of requests
  • Respond to subpoena requests for PHI/PII within strict deadlines
  • Review and process client authorization forms to ensure the timely release of PHI/PII
  • Conduct legal research in support of operational goals
  • Provide non-technical support to support internal and external requests
  • Complete ad-hoc records requests and special projects
  • Build cross-functional relationships with other stakeholders within the company to support client and internal requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Paralegal experience, specifically in healthcare privacy and/or records management; 2+ years experience preferred
  • Prior experience working with sensitive information and demonstrated capability to maintain confidentiality, including PHI and PII
  • Proficient with G Suite - specifically Sheets, and Excel 
  • Experience with client/customer facing communication, including demonstrated capabilities in professional and courteous communications with others in real time (phone and messaging) as well as through written channels
  • Additional familiarity with the following preferred:
  • Medical terminology and ICD-10 codes 
  • Ability to use an electronic health record and/or practice management system
  • Experience with behavioral health or subpoena requests is a huge plus!
  • Experience with healthcare compliance is a plus!
  • Ability to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace
  • Sense of humor and strong affinity for team donut day

This role is based in Burlingame, CA, or remote.
