Fairstead is seeking a highly motivated legal professional to join our legal team! The legal professional must balance legal and business imperatives in assisting with a broad variety of matters that encompass property management, development, litigation and contracts in connection with a large portfolio of multifamily housing. The role involves collaboration with members of Fairstead's legal team and with many of the company's other internal teams, including property management, accounting and human resources. The position will be based in Fairstead's Bethesda, MD office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a centralized records database for forms, templates, and contracts.
  • Draft correspondence, agreements, termination notices and other day-to-day agreements and documents.
  • Undertake independent project-based work for legal team members.
  • Maintain records and internal trackers for property and litigation related information and documents.
  • Communicate and solve problems presented by various internal teams.
  • Such other activities that may arise and that may be necessary or helpful in managing the company's legal matters



Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and simultaneously support several professionals.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess sound independent judgment and common sense with a moderate degree of supervisory attention.
  • Experience working with a wide range of agreements.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work across a wide range of corporate functions.
  • Excellent listening and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to interact and build trust across all levels of the company.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.)
  • Minimum of three to five years' experience in a property management company, law firm or in-house law department setting, or comparable organization.
