Position Overview:
We are seeking to hire an experienced employment and litigation attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will be a primary partner to the business on labor, employment, human resources, and litigation matters. You will oversee all employment and litigation matters. You will also play an important role in shaping policies and processes to help our legal and human resources department scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise on employment matters including, but not limited to wage and hour policy implications, reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, sick leave, PTO, compensation plans, employee performance, separations, immigration, pay equity, and employee benefits
  • Oversee and manage administrative claims, customer claims, and litigation
  • Advise on the development of Paylocity HR solutions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local ordinances related to labor and employment
  • Monitor legal developments, rules and regulations, and industry development and trends
  • Stay up to date with new or pending employment-related federal and state legislation
  • Manage internal investigations in partnership with human resources
  • Develop and implement HR/employment policies
  • Provide guidance on restrictive hiring covenants (e.g., non-competes)
  • Proactively identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advise accordingly
  • Interact with EEOC and state and local EEO agencies on employment matters
  • Assist with complex business, legal, and strategic issues as needed

Requirements:

  • BBA / BA / BS degree required
  • 3-7 years experience in employment law and litigation
  • JD required + admission to a state / DC bar
  • Deep knowledge of key U.S. employment laws including, but not limited to Title VII, ADEA, FCRA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EPA, NLRA, and state equivalents
  • Experience counseling on employment and labor law issues
  • General litigation experience
