Affirm seeks a Director, Vendor Counsel to join our CLEaR organization: Compliance, Legal, Enterprise risk, ethics, and Regulatory teams. The Commercial Legal team is instrumental in keeping daily operations and transactions moving quickly, while protecting the company. This director will be a business-minded attorney who can build and lead our Commercial Legal (Vendor Deals) team, to help our fast-growing business and build for scale. What You'll Do

• Build and lead the legal team that supports our in-bound (vendor) commercial transactions
• Structure, draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of vendor commercial agreements, including SaaS, consulting/professional services, staff augmentation, benefits, call-center agreements, and data-processing agreements
• Collaborate with and provide strategic and legal advice to various cross-functional teams (such as Financial Partnerships, Information Security, Trust & Safety, Customer Support, Engineering, and Finance)
• Support a fast-paced business with tight deadlines, while providing diligent and detailed work product
• Develop and implement innovative ways to scale inbound vendor legal processes
• Handle ad hoc projects across a spectrum of sophisticated business, legal, and strategic issues, including M&A integration and critical supplier evaluations

What We Look For

• 12+ years of relevant experience, to include in-house experience
• JD degree from an accredited law school and current member, in good standing, with a US state bar
• Prior leadership and management experience
  • Past experience building a team and building processes to scale are significant pluses
• Solid foundation in complex commercial contracts, plus (1) the ability to identify and solve for potential legal and business issues, coupled with (2) capability to act decisively in separating less and more important issues
• Knowledge of privacy law and principles, including GDPR
• Experience negotiating data-processing agreements
• A process-focused approach, with the intent to build smart processes and drive efficiencies
• Clear and concise communication skills, to effectively collaborate and negotiate with internal and external business and legal teams
• Great project management skills, with the ability to organize, prioritize, and remain collected under pressure
• Self-motivation and a willingness to own projects
• A teammate mentality, pitching in wherever needed
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, plus a passion for learning and improving the lives of customers
• Humility, integrity and a great sense of humor: you take your work seriously, but not yourself
