About the opportunity 

Flock Safety is looking for a Director of Government Affairs.  This strategic role is crucial in meeting our goal to reduce crime in the United States by 25 percent. Your key responsibility is to remove barriers to permitting our crime-solving devices by helping lawmakers understand the value proposition of our product both from a crime reduction and bias reduction perspective. You will work collaboratively across the organization (technology, customer success and operations) to remove legislative and policy obstacles that prevent our customers, both public and private, from making their communities safer. 

The ideal candidate has a passion for influencing policy as it relates to safer communities for all. They have experience working for mission-driven, disruptive technology companies and possess the drive, organizational skills and stamina to see projects to completion in a timely manner. 

How You Will Take Flight With Flock

• Partner with our revenue teams to understand where state and local policy (or lack of policy) may inhibit our ability to help communities improve their safety; develop and execute action plans to address them
• Partner with our operations teams to understand where state and local transportation policy may create hurdles for camera permitting and installation; develop and execute action plans to address them. 
• Manage relationships with legislative entities, special interest groups, local consultants and lobbyists
• Acts as ambassador regarding ethics and privacy with ALPR technology ensuring that policymakers understand how Flock’s technology is proven to improve safety in communities where it is deployed while increasing the objectivity in policing. 

About You

• 7+ years in a Government or Public Affairs or Policy role, specifically in the transportation space
• Deep understanding of the legislative process at local and state levels
• Strong project management, relationship building and public speaking skills
• Experience navigating new challenges in a high-growth company
• Advanced degree in law, business or political science helpful, but not required
• Ability to travel up to 25%
