WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE
As part of the Revantage legal team, the Corporate Counsel will directly support Blackstone's growing U.S. multi-family presence, through working with LivCor and various joint ventures. Responsibilities include commercial contracts, corporate governance, compliance, and other general corporate matters. This position provides a great opportunity to develop skills as a well-rounded in-house counsel and is ideal for a business-oriented attorney with strong customer service skills and the ability to learn quickly. This position is based out of the Revantage headquarters in Chicago, IL.
HOW YOU ADD VALUE
Corporate Legal Responsibilities:
- Oversight and ownership of all commercial agreements, including preparing, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of high-value and sensitive commercial agreements, such as IT and SAAS contacts, consulting agreements, and other vendor agreements
- Draft secretary's certificates, advise on signing authority, and support corporate governance function
- Engage with and respond to stakeholders on corporate legal questions
Litigation and Media Escalation Oversight:
- Guide stakeholders in ordinary course litigation matters with support from Revantage Risk
- Support asset management, operations, and communications teams in escalation of sensitive matters including media inquiries
Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Assist with regulatory compliance program, with support from Revantage Head of Legal Compliance
- Oversee external counsel tracking of key regulatory matters
- Assist review and recommendations regarding future regulatory landscape
Real Estate Operations:
- Prepare, review and negotiate property management agreements
- Prepare, review and negotiate property-level operational contracts
- Assist other attorneys in property operational support function
Other Responsibilities:
- Support roles in various legal department initiatives, aimed at the implementation of process and technology improvements to build Revantage Legal into a best-in-class legal department
- Support special projects and ad hoc requests of other attorneys
- Optional travel, including potential to participate in site visits, offsites, and conferences
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor degree
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience at a large or mid-size law firm with a sophisticated corporate practice or similar experience in-house
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Must have strong drafting, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Prior real estate legal experience
