Reimagining money movement requires creativity and resourcefulness, and we enjoy rising to the challenge!

You will be an integral founding member of the Legal team and lead the commercial legal efforts at Orum. You will own the vendor and commercial contracting process and be able to provide sound and pragmatic legal advice on commercial legal matters for cross-functional partners.  This is an opportunity to join a scaling startup where you will roll up your sleeves and help develop the infrastructure for growth of the legal team.

  • Drive continuous improvements, scalability and operational excellence in contract negotiation processes and execution, and effectively collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure contracts are executed on a timely basis and with acceptable deal parameters.
  • Keep current on and advise on pending and developing applicable law and regulations, especially as it relates to financial regulations, privacy and data protection.
  • Be a customer-centric business partner, not just an attorney.

.You Should Apply if:

  • You have a minimum 6 years’ working experience within the corporate, tech transactions or commercial law department of a reputable law firm, or a combination of experience between law firms and technology or fintech company in-house roles.
  • You have exceptional judgment and integrity, are able to handle multiple complex contract matters independently on tight timeframes, and are adept at making smart decisions in the face of ambiguity and imperfect information.
  • You exhibit high attention to detail and an ability to view legal issues within the context of business objectives, effectively coordinating and maintaining strong relationships with cross-functional business partners.
  • You have proven experience working in a fast-paced environment and fluency translating legal advice into actionable guidance for product and business teams.
  • You are comfortable owning and improving upon processes to achieve efficiencies and optimal outcomes.
  • You have demonstrated experience in negotiating and closing complex payment-as-a-services contracts with customers ranging from emerging companies to large, sophisticated businesses.
  • You provide and solicit feedback proactively and view different perspectives as an opportunity to learn and improve.
  • You have experience in financial technology risk, financial services (lending, credit cards, banking, etc.)
  • You have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
