We are currently seeking a driven and enthusiastic Associate General Counsel – Regulatory & Compliance who is interested in joining our team.  In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementation and oversight of regulatory, licensing and contractual compliance at the company.  Additionally, the role will develop training programs for each of the operating business lines and implement appropriate auditing procedures to monitor compliance throughout the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with the business leads to understand key areas of risk exposure and develop appropriate policies and procedures to address those exposures.  
  • Manage and oversee brokerage and mortgage compliance requirements, including creating reference materials, and a communication plan to ensure business adherence to, and comprehension of, applicable compliance requirements.
  • Manage the development and implementation of company risk management programs, including training content and education.
  •  Partner with business leads for onboarding, continued education/development training and knowledge assessments for all licensed roles.
  • Perform regular contract review and audits following contracting to ensure legal and contractual compliance of transactions.
  • Assist the ongoing enhancement of and compliance with operations manuals and work with Designated and Managing Brokers in each of the company’s offices. 
  • Make recommendations and identify innovative methods on how the company can efficiently support client and closing advisors while maintaining compliance throughout brokerage operations.
  •  Deliver guidance and support transactions through closing; provide market expertise for brokers and loan officers and advise on escalated issues, contract compliance issues, and contract disputes to identify prompt and satisfactory resolution.
  • Stay abreast of the changes and trends within the industry related to compliance, introduction of new contracts, legal and regulatory requirements, continuing education, and standards of professional conduct.

 What You’ll Bring

  • 10 or more years’ experience in real estate, mortgage and/or brokerage compliance with a minimum of 3 years management experience in a real-estate related field. 
  • Licensed as a real estate broker or salesperson in multiple jurisdictions preferred, but must be licensed as a broker in CA at a minimum.  
  • JD and bar admission to at least one state bar in the U.S.
  • Prior experience with national brokerage or lender required, and primary oversight experience preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to work long or odd hours on occasion.
