We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant with 3+ years of litigation experience.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation, with commercial litigation experience preferred. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving skills, a commitment to confidentiality, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Assist attorneys with all aspects of litigation, including case preparation, discovery, filings, and trial support.
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence.
- Manage case files, maintain calendars, and track deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks and court filings.
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, meetings, and other case-related activities.
- Conduct research, gather evidence, and organize materials for attorney review.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and internal team members.
- Assist with billing, time entry, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Prepare and organize large volumes of documents, contracts, financial records, and business correspondence relevant to commercial disputes.
- Assist with document review workflows, including categorizing, tagging, and summarizing complex business records.
- Support attorneys in drafting discovery requests and responses related to commercial issues such as breach of contract, business torts, and partnership disputes.
- Coordinate and track production of electronically stored information (ESI), working with vendors when necessary.
- Maintain privilege logs, dispute charts, damages spreadsheets, and other litigation tracking tools.
- Help prepare exhibits, binders, chronologies, and demonstratives for mediations, arbitrations, and trial.
- Monitor court dockets and update the team on case developments, rulings, and deadlines in commercial matters.
- Assist with preparing witness files and organizing key documents for expert witnesses, including financial, technical, or industry-specific materials.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of litigation experience (commercial litigation preferred).
- Strong understanding of litigation processes, court rules, and filing procedures (state and federal preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Proficient in legal software, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Spanish proficiency preferred but not required.
