The Notifications Central Team is responsible for delivering 200MN + notifications a day across multiple channels like SMS, Email, Whatsapp, Push Notifications etc. This team work on complex distributed system to manage and deliver highly scalable product at large. In this role you will be responsible for driving key customer engagement and enable business value for the company. You will also be responsible for ensuring platform reliability and modernization efforts or future scaling needs of building Notifications Platform for all communication needs at PayPal.
Your day to day :
- Work within a team of highly talented engineers, product and architect to design and develop a highly scalable and configurable Location Services Platform.
- Being involved in design meetings to propose, discuss and refine new features and functionality.
- The candidate must have significant business knowledge and technical expertise in application design and architecture, as well as knowledge of related domains of technical architectures (network, security, and infrastructure engineering), information architectures, and data architectures.
- Maintain and enhance the existing architectural documentations and create the new one as needed
- The candidate needs to be involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kick-off through the requirements analysis, design and implementation.
- The candidate must be a self- starter, work independently or as a team member, and have strong communication skills in interfacing with business partners and the Technology. Also responsible for communicating to others on technical standards, principles, methodology and trends.
- The candidate must be proactive and anticipate/handle issues before they blow-up.
- Exhibit a strong backbone and challenge the status quo when needed
- Expected to mentor and coach less experienced engineers.
What do you need to bring:
- Should have atleast 9+ years of overall experience
- Expert in back-end development using Java EE technologies (e.g. Java language, application servers, JMS, JPA, Spring MVC, Hibernate).
- Strong OOP skills, with ability to analyse requirements and transform into scalable software designs.
- Experience with HTTP, REST API's and competent designing and building web services/microservices in a commercial setting.
- Cognizant of SQL and other/NoSQL/modern database and storage technologies. Desired understanding of Oracle, JDBC and ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate).
- Experience with Design Patterns, MVC and frameworks (e.g. Spring).
- Competent in design/implementation for reliability, availability, scalability and performance.
- Competent in software engineering tools (e.g. Java build tools) and best practices (e.g. unit testing, test automation, continuous integration, etc.).
- Should be a strong advocate of code craftsmanship, good coding standards and use of tools that will improve the quality of the delivered code
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Demonstrate a high level of curiosity, passion for technology, pride of ownership and strive for excellence
- Solid understanding of web & mobile applications stack, SOA & Message Queues
- Experience with GraphQL, Java Script and NodeJs and Kotlin is a plus
Personal Traits:
- Significant exposure and experience in dealing with multiple use cases and across domains.
- Technical thought leadership, ability to evaluate technology choices for strategic initiative and setting the technology vision for the team
- Proven experience in leading a team of senior engineers
- Having a knack of customer empathy
- Good Product and Business acumen is an added plus
- Exposure and participation in tech events, hackathons, contributions to open source, authoring of blogs and active participation in online tech forums is a plus.
- Support Hiring, managing conflicts, extreme ownership and accountability are great to have skills.
