The Disney Entertainment & ESPN (DE&E) Technology Design team thinks beyond what is possible today. They discover, disrupt, and chart a course to where our fans and consumers will be next. Design brings the Disney magic to life by building digital customer experiences via the entire portfolio of both consumer-facing products and internal products and tooling. This includes Sports, Entertainment, News, Streaming and Enterprise Products and Experiences.
Hulu is seeking a Lead Product Designer to drive strategic design initiatives and lead cross-functional teams in delivering best-in-class media experiences to our viewers worldwide.
Role Overview:
As the Lead Product Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of our product design initiatives and overseeing the entire project lifecycle. We are looking for a Product Designer passionate about creating features that enhance and simplify the viewing experience for our users. From planning and design to testing and rollout, you will use your design expertise and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams across the company. Leveraging your deep knowledge of design thinking and project leadership, you will translate business objectives into compelling user experiences that captivate and delight our audience.
As a Lead you will:

  • Conceive, create, and oversee inspiring, high-quality content experiences across a wide variety of platforms and devices.
  • Follow a user-centered, evidence-based design process, understanding real users' motivations, behaviors, and goals. We listen to our viewers and let their needs guide us to the best solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the design team, providing design guidance, documenting, and socializing best practices.
  • Provide thought leadership to develop the right design strategy, using UX methodologies to bring value to both the user and the business.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of device platform best practices and guidelines.
  • Adhere to and help shape our design system and brand guidelines, ensuring high quality and establishing a consistent look and feel throughout the product, diverging only when validated by need.
  • Collaborate with peers in product, data, engineering, and marketing on cross-functional projects from start to finish.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a designer working on consumer products.
  • A high level of creative craftsmanship, translating strategies, theories, and design principles into inspiring concepts and successful executions.
  • Proficiency in user-centered design thinking methodologies and a strong understanding of research methodologies to gather and apply user insights effectively.
  • A strong interest in visual storytelling and an innate curiosity about people and their relationship to entertainment.
  • The discipline to prioritize work and resources based on short and long-term needs, adept at removing roadblocks and rebalancing as needed.
  • A growth mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and a strong sense of determination in leading product development.
  • Comfort in scaling teams and the ability to recruit talent that meet and exceed the DSS talent bar.
  • A sense of determination in leading product development with new ideas based on a deep understanding of our customers, their goals, our content, and our value proposition.
  • Ability to articulate, negotiate, and refine design solutions with cross-functional partners.
  • A passion for evolving the design practice, including its people, processes, and tools.
  • Proficiency with various design tools, including Figma and prototyping tools.
  • BA/BS in design or equivalent experience required

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles is $136,100 - 182,400 per year, in Seattle and New York City is $142,600 - 191,100 and in San Francisco is $149,000 - 199,800. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
