The Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive Lead Accountant to join our growing accounting and finance team. The Lead Accountant will be a key contributor to the monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports. This role will need to have experience in international accounting, specifically with multi-books, intercompany transactions, and functional vs. reporting currency impacts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of US GAAP, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing complex accounting tasks. In this role, you will gain broad exposure to the Company’s full-cycle accounting processes and provide support for the Sr. Corporate Accounting Manager. What You'll Do:
- Execute monthly and quarterly accounting close tasks including preparing/reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Perform monthly and ad-hoc analyses of financial trends.
- Assist in the preparation of various supporting schedules and analyses for internal financial and external financial statements, tax, and audits.
- Act as a mentor for junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training on accounting principles and best practices.
- Assist with maintaining and scaling our accounting and reporting process.
- Support optimization and automation efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.
- Collaborate and serve as a liaison to other departments on accounting matters, including but not limited to engineering, sales, IT, HR, marketing, etc.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 4+ years experience in audit with a mid to large size public accounting firm or 4-5 years experience with a small to mid size technology/software company.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- International accounting experience (particularly intercompany transactions and multi-book)
- Self-starter with a proven track record of grit and determination to drive process improvements.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel (vlookup and pivot tables).
- Ability to work on a cross functional basis, build and nurture relationships across the organization.
A Plus if you have:
- Working knowledge of NetSuite and FloQast.
- CPA or on track to get your CPA
- Payroll accounting knowledge.

Compensation
The annual anticipated U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is USD $90,000.00 - $100,000.00.
Actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies.
In addition, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than the job description as posted. Salary is one component of MariaDB’s total rewards package, which (subject to eligibility requirements) may include equity ownership, health insurance, life, and disability insurance, funds toward professional development resources, Paid Time Off (PTO), paid holidays, and parental leave, just to name a few!
Salaries for candidates outside the U.S. will vary based on local compensation structures.
