Job Title: Junior Associate TBVI Legal

We are seeking to employ a BVIslander or Belonger as a Junior Attorney to join our legal team. The Role:

It is a vital role which will focus primarily on Regulatory matters, legal research and drafting.  The successful candidate will be required to provide legal advice on diverse areas of law, including trust law, risk and compliance as well as corporate and commercial law.  We will give a talented junior attorney an opportunity to gain a broad range of experience which is critical to development.  However, we expect the candidate to have a strong foundation in law and a sound understanding of data privacy.  We will provide ongoing mentoring and support to the successful candidate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of legal correspondence, affidavits, opinions and other legal documents.
  • Provision of legal advice in the following areas of law - company law, employment law, contract law; trust law; AML and general compliance regulations.
  • Monitor changes in BVI laws and regulations, advise and prepare customer guidance memoranda as well as training materials.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Trident’s risk and compliance framework, systems, and processes.
  • Participate in projects to improve the processes and efficiency of TBVI Legal.
  • Undertake other tasks including general administrative duties as may be required from time to time.

Skills & Experiences:

  • A BVI qualified legal practitioner with 2 to 3 years’ experience.
  • Strong technical legal competence including legal research, problem-solving, critical thinking, and in-depth analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional personal organisational skills, common sense and practical skills with an ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise conflicting demands.
  • Takes personal responsibility for quality standards and commitment to meet and exceed existing service standards.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, quality, and control.
  • Ability to give effective oral and written briefs to the Board of Directors and to explain issues and legal concepts clearly and in a straightforward way.
  • Rigorous professionalism in handling both the people and the legal side of the work.
  • Ability to identify when supervision and escalation is necessary.
  • Ability to develop new skills and understand innovative technology as required.
  • Previous experience in a law firm or corporate service provider preferable.
