We are looking for a Jr. Business Intelligence Analyst who will be responsible for developing data transformations to support downstream analytics and data needs, owning/monitoring key performance indicators, and delivering key data insights, and visualization for HomeLight. You will work on projects primarily with the sales and operations teams which requires you to have flexible quantitative skills.
You will be the go-to person for data questions, build datasets and visualizations, and communicate your findings in presentations. As a result of your work you will develop a deep understanding of the business and act as a subject matter expert on consumer and marketing models and key metrics.
- Identify and blend data used to drive data-driven decisions across the organization
- Partner with Data Engineering and Product teams on data modeling and ETL initiatives
- Develop core dashboards, reports and analytical tools for users ranging from analyst to executive
- Use statistical analysis or data mining tools to analyze data, identify insightful trends, and convert data into meaningful recommendations for business owners and the executive team
- Help to drive the data strategy across multiple groups, primarily in sales & operations team
- Support ad hoc data requests through SQL, Excel, and/or other reporting tools
- BA/BS degree in a quantitative field – Analytics, Finance, Industrial Engineering or Statistics preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in writing, tuning, and manipulating data with SQL queries. A strong foundation on SQL is necessary. Python/R experience is a plus.
- At least 1 year experience in building reports/dashboards on tools such as Excel, Tableau, Looker, and Periscope. This experience has allowed you to not only to drill down deeply into the data looking for insights but also to help others on the team gain access to more insightful data (e.g., through dashboards).
- Strong data visualization skills. You should have the ability to tell the story behind the data to your stakeholders.
- Strong quantitative skills and a basic understanding of statistics (e.g., when you find an interesting pattern, you can figure out when it is just noise). We are not, however, looking for someone with an extensive background in machine learning and advanced statistics.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in the sales, operations, online real estate, ecommerce, or online business environment industries is preferred.
- Willing to experience and learn new BI tools, and apply best practices in coding and reporting.
