IT Manager
IT • Reports to: CFO • Chicago, IL • Hybrid
Hireology’s IT Manager owns the infrastructure that keeps roughly 200 employees productive and secure. You’ll lead a small team of IT professionals, manage our core systems and vendor relationships, and set the technical direction for how Hireology’s internal environment scales with the business. This isn’t a break-fix role — it’s a strategic one. The work ranges from evaluating new tooling and driving security posture improvements to partnering with People Ops and Finance on employee lifecycle systems.
You’ll report to the VP of Operations and work closely with Engineering, Finance, and HR leadership. You’re the right fit if you operate with ownership, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and know how to prioritize ruthlessly when everything feels urgent.
- Own Hireology’s IT infrastructure — cloud environments, SaaS stack, networking, endpoint management — and keep it reliable, secure, and cost-efficient
- Drive IT security compliance, including SOC 2 evidence collection, access controls, and endpoint security policies
- Manage IT vendor relationships and contracts; negotiate renewals and evaluate new tools against business needs, not feature lists
- Lead and develop a team of 2–3 IT professionals: set priorities, run 1:1s, and create a high-accountability culture that delivers for the business
- Partner with People Ops on onboarding/offboarding workflows, ensuring every new hire is set up correctly on day one and access is terminated completely on the last
- Own the IT helpdesk function: set SLAs, track resolution metrics, and build out self-service resources that reduce repeat tickets
- Build and maintain an IT roadmap that aligns with Hireology’s growth plans and budget cycles
- Identify and close security gaps proactively; don’t wait for an audit to find them
Required
- 5+ years of IT experience, including at least 2 years managing or leading a team
- Demonstrated ownership of IT infrastructure in a SaaS or technology company environment
- Hands-on experience with core enterprise tools: Google Workspace, Okta or similar SSO/IdP, Jamf or Intune for endpoint management, Jira or equivalent ticketing
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals (VPN, DNS, VLAN, firewall), cloud environments (AWS or GCP preferred), and security frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001)
- Track record of managing vendor contracts and IT budgets with real accountability for spend
- Clear, direct communication — you can explain a security risk to the CFO and a VLAN configuration to an engineer in the same week
- Bias toward building systems and documentation that outlast your individual involvement
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting a hybrid and/or remote-first workforce at scale
- Familiarity with HRIS integrations and employee lifecycle automation
- Relevant certifications: CISSP, CompTIA Security+, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or similar
- Prior experience at a company with 100–500 employees, where you built IT infrastructure from the ground up
