The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Description of Work
Salary Range: $70,528 - $105,793The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act.
This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work.
We’re seeking an IT Business Systems Analyst I to drive cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, high‑impact technology solutions.
The Early Career Associate Program is ideal for recent graduates, early-career professionals, or those looking to transition to a new career seeking broad exposure to state IT operations.
The Early Career Associate Program is a two-year on-the-job training (OJT) program designed for individuals with three years or less of professional experience. After gaining exposure to the role through the development process, participants will have the opportunity to be placed in a permanent role based on mutual fit and career goals.
This position supports and shadows IT Project Managers to help achieve successful planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects by coordinating activities, tracking progress, and facilitating communication among stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assists IT Project Managers with planning, execution, and delivery tasks
• Prepares agendas, minutes, status reports, and project materials
• Tracks timelines and maintains project schedules
• Coordinates team tasks and monitors completion
• Tracks expenses and supports project finance documentation
• Logs risks/issues and escalates as needed
• Schedules meetings, distributes communications, and documents decisions
About the Division:
This position will be part of the NC DIT Project Management Office. Our office is responsible for leading IT projects for various State agencies in North Carolina.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
- Familiarity with project management tools and software (such as Microsoft Project, Kanban Board, or similar tools) and willingness to learn additional methodologies and tools
- Awareness of project management standards and frameworks (such as PMBOK, Agile, or ITIL) and interest in pursuing professional development and certification (PMP)

Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business consultation, process improvement, or requirement gathering in an information technology environment

Associate degree in business administration, computer science or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience
OR
High School or GED and four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
