User Experience Design Intern (Summer 2022)

BASIC PURPOSE: The Experience Design team at Love's is looking for a student interested in User Experience (UX) Design for a summer internship. You will work with the team on design and research initiatives for an in-house mobile app, and on various other projects and platforms. You will be exposed to all stages of our design and research process, collaborating with designers, researchers, developers, and product owners.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to the end-to-end design process, from low-fidelity wireframes to fully fleshed out mockups
- Assist in the design of thoughtful and intuitive interfaces for our users
- Learn the technologies, strategies, and research techniques we use here at Love's
- Assist with research including usability testing, interviews, and surveys
- Develop research plans, guides and set up for studies
- Other duties assigned as needed
GAIN EXPERIENCE WITH:
- Working with a team to solve UX problems via insightful design
- Qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Agile methodology and cross-functional team collaboration
- A variety of design and research software tools
- Interacting and coordinating with participants, customers, and stakeholders
- Designing solutions to improve the user experience with Love's products and features
- User Interface Quality Assurance (UI QA) and documentation
- Evaluating the usability of new features, and making constructive suggestions for changes and enhancements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Currently enrolled in four-year university program , a sophomore level or above pursing a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Design (Interaction, Graphic, Visual Communications, etc.), Psychology, HCI, Cognitive Science, or Computer Science
- Experience:
- Experience with industry standard design tools (Sketch, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
- A portfolio showcasing your design or research work

- Ability to communicate and collaborate with team members
- Ability to effectively present designs and ideas to multidisciplinary teams
- An eye for good design, and interest in learning about modern design patterns, trends, and best practices
- Customer-centric mindset and detail-oriented approach
- Interest in gaining real world experience in the UX field
- Typical Physical Demands:
- On-call availability as needed
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
- Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components
