Your Opportunity

New Relic's CodeStream extension brings collaboration tools into the developer's IDE, allowing them to discuss and review code in ways previously not possible. CodeStream also brings the tools you use every day into the IDE to simplify your workflow and reduce context switching. This includes everything from reviewing PRs and creating tickets in your issue tracker, to leveraging observability in new and compelling ways.

The CodeStream team has deep roots in the startup world and still operates with a startup mentality. We are looking for a problem-solving, highly skilled, sophisticated computer programmer who is self-motivated and comfortable working in a face-paced environment. This is a team of developers building tools FOR developers, and you should embrace your role in not just building the tools but also helping us shape the vision for the product.

As a Codestream Continuous Integration Intern at New Relic, you'll join our Product organization for a full-time, paid 12-week summer internship beginning in either May or June 2022! You'll work on real-world projects that will make an impact on our business, and develop practical skills to apply throughout your career. Over the summer, we'll have the opportunity for you to:
  • Attend chats with current employees to learn more about their roles, receive advice, and begin to build your network
  • Work with a dedicated mentor through our formalized and flexible mentorship program
  • Gain useful skills through professional development trainings and informative feedback
  • Connect with the intern community through meetings, projects, and social events
  • Learn about the company and our vision to instrument, measure, and improve software
  • Showcase your work via a final presentation to management

Your Qualifications

  • Experience working with object oriented programming (Javascript, Python)
  • Excitement to learn CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, Ansible, AWS CodeBuild, protocols (SSH, HTTP(S), SMTP, etc), TLS certificates & PKI databases, VPNs
  • Familiarity with Bash shell scripting & Python
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Bachelor's program, and will be a rising senior graduating between December 2022 - June 2023
  • A foundation in computer science theory, with strong proficiencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Experience in our commonly used languages: Java, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Go, or comparable high-level programming languages
  • Degree focus in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or related fields
  • Experience with data-servers - MongoDB, MySQL / MariaDB, PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of AWS Infrastructure platform & Amazon Linux 2 distribution
  • Participation in university clubs Examples - SWE, WiCS, SHPE, NSBE, ACM, Hacker teams, or any others focusing on the professional development of your computer science skills
  • Leadership experience in clubs or on projects
