About the Team
Vizio's Internship Program will run for 10 weeks from June 12th-August 18th and requires Interns to be onsite at the assigned location, four days a week for up to 29 hours.
The Technical Project Manager Intern will serve as the Scrum Master/Project Manager for an agile team within the engineering organization.
What You Will Do

This role will act as an agile process coach and is responsible for working daily with the team of developers to help them deliver on their goals.
This role will work to report metrics on the team's performance, remove blockers and impediments, and communicate updates.
Assist in debugging issues for our team and understanding critical components of our business.
Analyze current processes and suggest improvements.
Shadow Scrum Managers across agile ceremonies.
Learn tools like Jira, Confluence, and Lucidcharts.

About You

Engineering background with 1-2 years of development
Good understanding of Linux, C++, or object-oriented programming
Pursuing a Bachelor's (senior) or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field of study.

Long gone is the age of reaching viewers just through commercials. “We allow you to interact with the advertiser by giving you more information and images, taking surveys or, one day, buying right on the TV,” said Mudd, who helps drive engineering for interactive TV. It’s hardly a siloed affair: As Mudd said, it begs efforts across all parts of VIZIO’s tech, plus its automatic content recognition arm, Inscape.

The process of displaying this interactive piece requires all levels of the VIZIO technology — from firmware to platform to Inscape.

Leverage data to inform digital disruption

Performance data is critical for VIZIO. It’s McDonald’s team that stores and analyzes it — a function crucial as the org incorporates future interactive capabilities for content and advertising. As he looks ahead, future projects include the creation of a new predictive analytics arm at VIZIO driven by ML and AI. “It’s unusual to see a company of this size reorganize itself around data the way that VIZIO has,” McDonald said.

VIZIO, as a company, is in the middle of an evolutionary shift in the way it operates and interacts with its clients.

VIZIO engineers have been tasked with re-defining the boundaries that govern the relationship between the television and the viewer. By integrating interactive on-screen elements, voice controls, camera inputs, and a powerful cloud based algorithmic learning we are turning the TV it into something altogether different.
