The Red Hat Technology Organization is looking for highly motivated individuals who want to gain practical experience with open source and Red Hat products during a 12-week summer Technical Internship. Red Hat is looking for interns that are interested in working within at least one of the following technical areas: data science, data architecture, tech support, infrastructure, systems administration, security, customer content, networking, technical writing, operations, and more.

What you will do

  • Understand and visualize patterns in data workloads that align with our customers strategy and business
  • Develop machine learning, data mining, and statistical techniques and algorithms to create new, scalable solutions
  • Learn about Red Hat offerings and how they can be assembled into solutions to address our customers data challenges
  • Maintain configurations and supporting customer requests
  • Conduct technical audits, analysis, and implementation of technical findings
  • Work closely with content strategists, engineering, project teams, and other partners to produce and maintain quality documentation
  • Help create meaningful dashboards, for a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Engage with customer and internal feedback to address content gaps, act on direct customer feedback


What you will bring

  • Ability to work full-time May-August
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science, data analytics, statistics, or a related field; if you have graduated, be no more than 6 months past your graduation date at the start of the internship
  • Demonstrated interest in technology, interpreting data, and supporting customers
  • Good written and verbal communication skills


Any of the following are considered a plus:

  • Knowledge of the UNIX or Linux operating system in any distribution
  • Experience with Go, React, or Angular
  • Experience creating dashboards or visualizations
  • Coding experience in languages like C or Python
  • Prior experience in computer operations, system administration, or a closely related area
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
  • Knowledge of Ansible, Kubernetes or OpenShift, Golang, or Bash scripting
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, IBM Cloud
  • Knowledge of Github or Zenhub
  • Willingness to wear a lot of red
