We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Legal Intern to join our team and provide legal research and support to a fast-paced technology company, reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel. You will be part of the Governance, Risk and Compliance team, which also includes Security and Compliance, a collaborative group responsible for supporting all teams throughout the organization to ensure they have the resources they need to be successful while likewise protecting Even Financial’s core values and interests.

The person in this role will help to ensure our company adheres to legal standards, regulations and internal policies and guidelines. You will be responsible for leading legal research projects, documenting legal findings, advising the business, and learning and contributing to the negotiation of Even’s strategic agreements. You will learn about financial regulations and how they impact and influence all aspects and levels of Even’s business as well as HR laws, information privacy laws, trademark and other laws which may impact Even’s business. 

Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Corporate Counsel in day to day legal operations
• Lead at least three legal research projects
• Perform ad hoc legal research as needed
• Coordinate with different areas of the business on legal issues
• Review MNDAs and amendments for Even’s strategic relationships
• Review data privacy requests
• Update policies and procedures as needed
• Help implement contract management tool
• Coordinate legal reporting and metrics
• Contribute to improvements in legal process and legal operations

About You

• Currently enrolled in your second or third year at an ABA accredited law school
• Willing to commit 20 hours a week during business hours for at least three months
• Proficient in google suite and microsoft office
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize projects
• Ability to work quickly and independently
• Overall willingness to learn and team player mentality
