Job Description
Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently recruiting for a Software Engineering Intern based in the Hillsboro, OR facility, which is the headquarters of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Electron Microscopy business within the Materials and Structural Analysis Division.
Your work will contribute to the Research and Development department's platform software team. You will write high level software that controls electron microscopes and ensures that the microscope is in a good state to meet the customer requirements.
This internship provides an opportunity for an engineering student to get hands on experience working with engineers in an innovative product development environment. The intern will collaborate with fellow software engineers and other R&D staff members and will work on a variety of activities, along with gaining some electron microscope training.
Responsibilities and Duties
Write C# software to help manage electron microscope alignments
Write support software in scripting languages (Python or similar) to aid in tests and diagnostics
Qualifications/Experience
Currently pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science
Knowledge of C# programming language
Knowledge of Python or other scripting programming language
