Software Engineering Intern, Machine Learning Infrastructure

Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations. We think deeply and solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. The Machine Learning Infrastructure team at Waymo builds the industrial scale machine learning platform used by practitioners developing software for our autonomous vehicles. We provide data labeling tools and services, data visualization tools that provide insights, large scale training and evaluation frameworks, and low latency neural net inference runtimes for onboard execution and simulation. We work hand in hand with machine learning experts in all parts of the company including perception, behavior prediction, planning, mapping, hardware, and simulation.

In this internship, you'll:
- Learn about and contribute to our machine learning infrastructure, frameworks, and libraries
At the minimum, we'd like you to have:
- Experience in at least one of: C++, Javascript/Typescript, Python
It's preferred if you have one of the following:
- Experience in UI/UX, Web Development, Data Visualization, Data Processing, Distributed Computing, Tensorflow, GPU/accelerator Performance, ML Compression / Optimization, or ML basics
