Data Engineer

Job description

  • A Data Engineer designs data products and data pipelines that are resilient to change, modular, flexible, scalable, reusable, and cost effective.



Key responsibilities

  • Understand the business use of data and the stakeholders' requirements to support work processes and strategic business objectives.
  • Leverage data and software engineering techniques, data science to create business value through data accessibility. Includes data ingestion, data preparation and analytics processing
  • Identifying, acquiring, cleansing/preparing, storing data, and developing reusable data products aligned with defined architecture patterns.
  • Enabling data scientists, making data available for advanced analytics models, and contributing to advanced analytics models.
  • Working with ML Engineers to scale and deploy solution including models, documentation, training, integration.
  • Contributing to the inner source development of foundational tools, and/or the deployment of technical services.



Data Analyst

Job description

  • A Data Analyst provides expertise on how business workflows map to data, and how data can be integrated to build reusable data products. A Data analyst will serve as a subject matter expert for delivery teams.



Key responsibilities

  • Join a delivery team and contribute to the following tasks:
    • Understanding the business use of data and stakeholder requirements to support work processes and strategic business objectives.
    • Working with business (digital platform, Business Units, function teams) and delivery teams to provide data management direction and support for data foundation initiatives and data products development.
    • Analyzing current state of data management: process, practices, tools, and helping shape future needs. Contributing to the design of common information models.
    • Assessing data quality concerns specific to workflow solutions being adopted and driving mitigation activities.



Required education / degrees

  • Currently enrolled in bachelor's or master's degree in computer science disciplines, or a business or petroleum degree with computer science fundamentals.
  • Must provide a current, unofficial transcript with online resume (as proof of good academic standing) when applying for this position to be considered.



Required qualifications / certifications

Data Engineer

  • Coding (Python)
  • Software engineering fundamentals, Github



Data Analyst

  • Data Acquisition, wrangling and preparation
  • Software engineering

  • Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
