The Red Hat Products and Technologies Department is looking for a creative, passionate individual who is ready to join us as a Product, Marketing, or Design Intern and learn within an innovative and dynamic company. Red Hat is looking for interns that are interested in working within at least one of the following areas: product management, product marketing, technical marketing, product design, user experience design, UX or UI, content design, customer research, and more.
What you will do
- Work with a team of researchers, designers, and front-end developers to create memorable customer experiences
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, researchers, technical writers, and other product group stakeholders through user flows and journey mapping sessions
- Understand and communicate the information architecture, workflows, and processes surrounding the user experience
- Build internal analytics products that turn raw data into actionable insights
- Collaborate with others on user flows and journey mapping sessions to plan, write, and iterate
- Define a go-to-market strategy and plan around aspects of developer tooling
- Working with project managers, marketing, and sales teams to understand different needs
- Create external content like technical demos, blogs, how-to videos, articles, etc.
- Create, deliver, and maintain technical selling materials like presentations
- Conduct market research, customer surveys, analyst inquiries, sales interviews, etc. to understand the market trends
- Collect and document input from Red Hat users, customers, community members, and
- other stakeholders to understand customer needs and develop a strategy and roadmap
What you will bring
- Ability to work full-time May-August
- Currently pursuing a degree in design, visual design, human-computer interaction, human factors, marketing, business, english, communications, computer science, or a related field; if you have graduated, be no more than 6 months past your graduation date
- Advocate for a high-quality user experience
- Analytical skills with ability to work with lots of data and derive key insights and trends
- Understand when and how to use data to inform design decisions
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Any of the following are considered a plus:
- Knowledge of the UNIX or Linux operating system in any distribution
- Experience with Adobe XD or Figma
- Knowledge of GitHub, Jira and product planning tools
- Fundamental knowledge of application development, IT infrastructure, emerging technologies
- some experience with the user interface design process and methodologies like design thinking
- Knowledge of product development life cycle
- Basic experience with web design using HTML and CSS
- Familiarity with Open API specification 3.0, RESTful services, JSON, OpenID Connect, OAuth2, and continuous integration (CI) or continuous delivery (CD) toolsets (Tekton, Jenkins, ArgoCD)
- Willingness to wear a lot of red
