Description: Department Overview:

The National Product Design and Management (NPDM) department optimizes our health plan product and capability portfolio in support of Kaiser Permanente's overarching growth and retention business objectives. The National Product Design and Management team drives the vision, strategy, design, and execution of Kaiser Permanente's product suite across the end-to-end product development and management life-cycle. We are structured in a way to support national and regional product and capability needs utilizing common tools and analytic models to ensure consistent and effective work. The Product Performance and Analytics team provides accurate, timely, and reliable data insights to assist NPDM in the data-driven design and management of products aligned with KP's mission.

Intern Projects:

    1. Financial and membership volume analysis for various lines of business across Kaiser Permanente; identifying trends and key insights
    2. Work with various vendors across Kaiser Permanente to collect and compare data for decision making and reporting purposes (i.e., Member Meal Programs; Medicare)



Target Skillset:

    1. Data Analytics; Business Analytics; or comparable major
    2. Analytics, reporting, or programming (SAS/ Sql) background
    3. Preferred but not required: R programming; Machine running; Agile knowledge or experience

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.
  • Report development and analytics.
  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.
  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.
  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Experience

Education

  • Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.
  • Bachelors degree required.



License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A



Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
