Red Hat's Global Privacy team within our Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Privacy Risk and Compliance Intern to join us in Summer 2022 to help meet the demands of our fast-paced and rapidly growing environment and evolving government regulations in the area of data privacy and security. In this role, you will work closely with business partners in the IT, Legal, and other Red Hat teams to deliver our Global Data Privacy Program. Data Privacy is an area of ongoing importance. You will learn about the global data privacy landscape, including current laws and pending legislation and their applicability to Red Hat. You will help carry out and evolve our data privacy strategy, with responsibilities including keeping privacy documentation and records up to date, processing data subject requests, participating in privacy audits and assessments of compliance, developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and KPIs, and other tactical activities necessary to implement and maintain Red Hat's data privacy compliance framework.

What you will do

  • Assist with conducting, reviewing, and documenting privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) based on a variety of standards and data privacy laws
  • Follow up on recommended remediations to ensure privacy compliance
  • Assist with internal audits to support the Privacy program
  • Performing privacy-related access audits and summary reporting on a recurring basis
  • Assisting with maintenance of privacy-related documentation and records of data processing activities
  • Process data subject requests including triage, task assignment, follow-up, and customer communications
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and metrics to report on the overall health of the privacy program
  • Assist with data privacy awareness training, including preparation of educational materials and other assets
  • Partner with privacy leaders and our Legal team to ensure understanding and compliance with Global privacy laws, regulations, and emerging risks
  • Participate in and assist with security or privacy incidents, handling, processing, response, and reporting

  • Good reputation for integrity and ethics
  • Proficiency with privacy regulations, e.g., California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), etc., and frameworks, e.g., Generally Accepted Principles And Practices (GAPP), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), or National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); solid commitment to and desire to learn more about these areas
  • Understanding of risk management
  • Proficiency with the G Suite of productivity applications including Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides
  • Currently pursuing a degree; majoring in computer science, cybersecurity, business, or legal disciplines are a plus, and if you have graduated, you must be no more than 6 months past your graduation date
