Your Opportunity

Our Global Mining team has a need for an Engineering Intern based out of one of the following offices: Chandler, AZ, Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Elko, NV, or Reno, NV.

You would work within our aggregates, industrial minerals, and metals surface mining team. This role would directly support project managers and lead technical practitioners with the completing various tasks associated with the completion of technical studies (concept to feasibility) and detailed engineering projects for surface mining operations across North America and the globe.

Your Key Responsibilities

Health - Safety

  • Understanding and working per the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture.   • Working in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its Clients.
  • Developing an understanding of applicable safety codes, regulations and guidelines.

Engineering - Design Tasks

  • Contribution to the preparation of quality technical documents and/or drawings to Stantec's standards.
  • Contribution to design calculations, equipment and material specifications and data sheets, discipline design drawings with required supervision commensurate with your level of experience.
  • Working with a multi-discipline engineering and design team on a day-to-day basis.
  • Coordinating of and participating in the preparation of project designs and details.
  • Participation in project meetings.
  • Perform various office tasks as required to deliver a quality product on schedule.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Prior Co-op or internship experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with mining software such as Carlson AutoCAD, Minesight, Vulcan, or Deswik is an asset.
  • Knowledge of surface mining, technical report writing, and .
  • You must be a self-starter and be able to work in a team setting.

Education and Experience

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mining Engineering.
