IT PaaS Engineering Internship (OpenShift)
About the job
The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) Platform-as-a-Service team is looking for an IT PaaS Engineering Intern to join our global systems engineering and operations team. In this role, you will partner with engineers from across India, Germany, Canada, and the United States to operate, maintain, and enhance Red Hat's next-generation deployment platform for mission-critical workloads. You'll have the opportunity to work with emerging technologies including Red Hat OpenShift, containers, Operators, and more, while helping to provide a living, breathing service that Red Hat depends upon to run its business.
What you will do
- Help build and manage our large-scale infrastructure and platform services, including public cloud, private cloud, and datacenter-based services
- Help automate cloud infrastructure and services through use of cloud-native technologies and scripting
- Assist in fulfilling support requests from development teams that use the platform
- Help new teams onboard successfully onto the platform
- Assist the team with the planning, design, and implementation of features for the next major release of the service
- Participate in daily global standups that guide the team's efforts
What you will bring
- Ability to work full-time May-August
- Currently pursuing a degree; if you have graduated, be no more than 6 months past your graduation date at the start of the internship
- Familiarity working with Linux and open source technologies and tools
- Ability to program in common, modern languages like Python, Java, Go, etc.
- Comfortable with frequent, incremental code changes, testing, and deployment
- Familiarity with and interest in containers and Kubernetes-related technologies
- Working toward a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work without direct supervision
- Able to make progress on your own while working as part of a larger team
- Interested in learning how teams deliver rapidly using agile development methodologies
