As an intern in Micron's Advanced Computing and Memory Solutions group, you will work with the memory industry's leading architecture team on new concepts which will shape the future of computing systems. This role involves researching and developing advanced hardware features for Micron's next generation compute and memory systems. The candidate may contribute in a broad range of areas, resulting in hardware systems that demonstrate proof of concepts for the technologies being explored. This position is located in Allen, TX.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Participation in architecture, architectural simulation, and evaluation of compute and memory features.
  • Perform research into novel memory system features to improve performance and energy efficiency
  • Participation in design, development, and verification of hardware features implemented in FPGA prototypes and ASICs for advance compute and memory system architectures.
  • Partnering with software development teams on programming model development, hardware and software integration, and lab debug.
  • Partnering and providing feedback to architecture and development teams to improve performance of hardware and software.


Successful candidates for this position will:

  • Be pursuing a MS or PhD degree in either Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Have course work in digital circuit design.
  • Have course work in Computer Architecture.
  • Have programming skills in C++ with data structure experiences.
  • Have an understanding of basic software algorithms (e.g. searching, sorting)
  • Have experience with a scripting language (e.g. Python or Perl)
  • Have experience with hardware performance modeling (e.g. C++ based simulators, SystemC etc.)
  • Have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Be a self-motivated, enthusiastic team player who enjoys working with others
  • Have good communication and documentation skills


The following skills are preferred but not required:

  • Knowledge and experience in using Verilog or SystemVerilog
  • Experiences with FPGA design
