Primary Responsibilities:
  • Service Design
    • As a Service Design Intern, you will explore how to think in end-to-end experiences, that include service systems, patient programs, applications, care facilities, etc. You will create thoughtful experiences for patients, consumers and healthcare professionals. You'll apply skills in sketching, prototyping, 3D-modeling and visualization to quickly turn ideas into ID concepts for iterative evaluation and development
    • Please note any specific design interests or skills when you include your portfolio
  • Digital Experience Design
    • As a Digital Experience Design Intern, you will influence and design digital products and services across UnitedHealth Group by applying skills in UX research, interface design, design thinking and information architecture. From concept testing and prototyping to developing interactions and applying visuals, you will support a variety of assets including websites, physical interfaces, mobile apps and portals
  • Research & Experience Strategy
    • As an Insights & Experience Strategy Intern, you will work across design strategy, design research, and business innovation to generate fresh insights and connect business to design. You will apply skills in strategy, design thinking, ethnography, research synthesis, storytelling and iterative prototyping to solve problems and develop new ideas, and to connect the dots between creative strategy and exemplary execution. Portfolio not required for this position only
  • Design Operations
    • As a Design Operations Intern, you will support the Design Operations team to think about the engine that drives Design at scale. Process flows and systems designs for efficient operational excellence

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university during the duration of the internship. Internships are not intended for graduating seniors
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance

Preferred Qualifcations:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Design (animation/interaction), Operations
  • Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Miro, Mural, etc.
  • Experience with product management
  • Intermediate level of knowledge with Microsoft Excel

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $16.00 to $17.07. The hourly range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $16.00 to $19.18. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
