The Engineering Technician Intern will receive training on the practical application of engineering concepts to develop solutions for project assignments associated with Continental's energy assets. The intern will work and provide support a department within Continental in an office-based role. The intern will work on routine and complex activities involving data acquisition and storage, report generation, mapping and information processing.

The Project Management Department serves the greater organization by enhanced cooperation between Regulatory, Right of Way, Construction, Graphical Information Systems & engineering support. The department improves efficiency by reducing manual data handling. After a brief introduction to the sub-departments and their responsibilities, the intern will be tasked with designing and implementing a method that improves an existing process. Their presentation will report on the method's anticipated impact to CLR.

Duties/Responsibilities

In addition to a summer project, the engineering tech intern will also have the opportunity to do some of the following, based on projects assignment:

  • Accumulate and effectively organize data from multiple sources for engineering analysis
  • QC accuracy of data, take appropriate action on any changes, and communicate required corrections to the necessary parties
  • Create and maintain custom database, spreadsheets, maps, Spotfire projects of technical data as required by assigned department
  • Responsible for loading/entering, verifying, manipulating, analyzing, and reporting data
  • Initiates and develops more accurate and reliable data analyses and reporting methodologies
  • Other duties as assigned



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong work ethic and has a positive and proactive attitude
  • Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills; Intern will be presenting to company leadership
  • Proficient computer and data analysis skills
  • Advanced proficiency in: MS Office - Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Basic Proficiency in:
    • Coding - SQL, R, Python, HTML, etc.
    • Applications - Spotfire, Geographix/GIS
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Works well independently or with a team to perform more complex data analyses.
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to work and deliver on short timelines
  • Proven team player



Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in an accredited four (4) year College or University
  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Geospatial Technology or related field from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA for consideration
  • Eligible to work permanently in the United States upon graduation



Physical Requirements

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
