The Red Hat Global Finance Analytics team is looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to gain practical experience with open source and Red Hat offerings during a summer internship to join us in Raleigh, NC as a Data Science Intern. What you will do
- Generate insights from data across the company to support our business leadership and inform our company strategy
- Be engaged in a variety of projects that require an array of analytical skills like data manipulation, descriptive analytics, predictive modeling, application development, automation, training, enablement, and stakeholder management
- Work closely with leadership groups in the finance, product, sales, marketing, and IT organizations across the globe to have the opportunity to use your strengths and evolve your skills in direct application to Red Hat's business
What you will bring
- Ability to work full-time May-August
- Currently pursuing a degree in analytics, statistics or a quantitative field; if you have graduated, be no more than 6 months past your graduation date
- Excellent programming skills in SQL, Python, and mostly the scientific computing stack
- Familiarity with building, automating, and deploying machine learning models and forecasts
- Familiarity with relational database systems like SQL Server, Redshift, Oracle, Big Query, etc.
- Data visualization skills
- Affinity for frequent collaboration and constant desire to improve the team by sharing knowledge and feedback
- Motivated with a sense of accountability
- Willingness to learn
- Creative problem-solving skills
The following are considered a plus:
- Domain experience working with software or technology, finance, or subscription-based company
- Experience with open source technologies like Linux, Docker, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, and testing
- Frameworks like Pytest and Unittest, Airflow, and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) technologies
- Familiarity with Git or version control systems
- Experience in development of user-facing data products using Python
