Intern this Summer at Particle Health!
Particle Health is accepting applications for a Data-Focused Internship focused one key aspect of how the company measures and reports KPIs. This internship will run from approximately June 6 - August 26, 2022. As an important part of the data engineering team, the intern will partner with both the Data and Product teams to build a meaningful piece of work that will impact how Particle does business.
About the Role
Our internship will teach you to think about data products holistically as well as give you the skills to reliably and responsibly create one. After completing an internship, you will be well prepared to begin a career in data science, analysis, or engineering. Maybe even with us at Particle!
In addition to gaining data skills, you will also have the opportunity to help Particle ensure simple and secure access to health data, making an impact on real people’s lives.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for people interested in a career in data who also want to have a transformative impact on US healthcare. This internship is open to people who are just starting a career in data, preferably with some amount of experience working with data and writing code. Undergraduates, graduate students, bootcampers, and career changers are all welcome to apply.
Areas of Responsibility
- With the support of the team, take end-to-end ownership of a data product
- Conduct scoping and stakeholder interviews to choose metrics that will have the most impact and can be developed in a summer
- Identify data sources and build a data pipeline
- Build dashboards to visualize the metrics that you have identified
- Participate in the larger data team’s work and understand how your work fits in with the missions of the data team, larger tech team, and Particle Health
Qualifications
- Some experience with data tooling, including Python, R, SQL, and dashboarding. Python is preferred; if you don’t have any experience with Python we’d like to see very strong experience with the other data skills
- Interest in developing Python skills
- Some classwork or work experience in a technical topic that required using data and/or writing code
- Interest in pursuing a career in data; interest in health tech a big plus
- Ability to make cross-functional connections and conduct stakeholder interviews; this will require strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
- Understands and is dedicated to responsible and ethical data use and the impact that data products can have
- Motivated to learn about and make an impact in healthcare, especially digital healthcare
- Authorized to work in the US; physically located in the US for the entirety of the internship
Important Info about Internships at Particle Health
Particle internships are great preparation for a career in startups, health tech companies, and mission-driven organizations. We take our internships seriously and have hired at least one intern out of every internship class we’ve hosted. You’ll get to do real work with the support of a manager who is committed to your success, plus you’ll learn a ton about how our company works together to achieve our ambitious mission to radically transform American healthcare.
The application process is easy: submit your resume and answer the two brief questions about why you’re interested. We’ll reach out to those who qualify and schedule a phone conversation, during which you can learn more about us and the opportunity. Candidates who move ahead in the process will then take part in “panel” interviews, where you’ll get to meet more team members and demonstrate your readiness for the internship. We’ll then send offers to accepted candidates soon after.
The internship is remote-first, but if you live in the NYC metro area or choose to relocate for the summer, we have an office where you can work. We love the office but don’t require anyone to work from there. We’ll provide a laptop for your temporary use, as well as any software or tools you might need. This internship pays $25/hour and will be paid every two weeks via direct deposit.
