BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for Love's internal communications projects with some additional support of external communications initiatives. This internship will focus on projects involving content classification and creation for our company intranet and employee app, as well as reporting to determine effectiveness and planning for communications to our employees across the country. It also includes, as a secondary experience, working with our external communications team on assignments for digital content production and social media, public relations and community and internal events.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Play a key role in content creation for Love's intranet, employee app and digital communications boards, which serve our more than 35,000 employees nationwide.
• Research and write stores related to Love's business operations, culture and various employee initiatives and campaigns.
• Assist with month and quarterly reports to measure success and impact of Love's internal communications channels and campaigns.
• Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions and tools for marketing and communications.
• Support external communications team, community relations team and events team as needed.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education:
  • HS diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled in four-year university program for spring or fall 2022 working toward a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism or other related field.
• Experience:
  • Proven involvement and experience with communications-related project.
  • Strong writing experience with solid knowledge of AP style.
  • Experience with Microsoft office and, preferably, Adobe Creative Suite or similar.
  • Past internship or experience crafting strategic communications plans are a plus.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Skills:
  • Hard Skills: Must be a strong writer with knowledge of AP style. Experience creating and executing on strategic communications plans. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Experience with email marketing tools and creative software a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong time management and organization skills, sense of urgency, keen attention to detail, capacity to take ownership of a project from start to completion, and the ability to manage tasks, requests and projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Typical Physical Demands:
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
